Dog Attacks Officers

Los Angeles: An LAPD officer shot and killed an attacking Pit Bull

On Sunday, August 24, 2008 at around 2:30 p.m., officers from the 77th Street Division responded to a 'Neighbor Dispute' call at 6308 South Victoria Avenue.

In determining the proper cause of action, officers interviewed several residents at a multi-unit apartment complex. While conducting an interview officer Hal Jones saw an aggressively charging Pit Bull and fired one round at the dog in order to stop its attack, resulting in its death.

Officer Jones has been with Department for 12 years.

There were no injuries to the officers.

77th Division is handling the investigation.
